These were my favorite tracks from a couple of years back, when i started listening to underground. Some great lyrical wordplay and flows
1. Binary Star - Reality Check
The hip-hop duo is comprised of One Be Lo and Senim Silla who met each other in jail. Their first tour was limited to Michigan because of parole restrictions. The
"Im bad to the bone but x-rays can't even see this"
2. Black Star - Definition
Mos Def and Talib Kweli produced their only album, the self titled "Black Star" in 1999 before going different ways. Talib Kweli has worked with Kanye West while Mos Def has gone on to release solo albums and has starred in movies like "Be Kind Rewind" and "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy".
"In the miles or kilometers, most cats, cannot proceed us
In the jungle with the leaders we the lions you the cheetahs"
3. Heiroglyphics - Miles to the Sun
A collective formed by Del tha Funkee Homosapien based in Oakland. As far as I know this group broke up a couple of years ago.
the kinetic poetic lyrical archer with phonetic marksmanship
splittin moving targets apart with
aero dynamic rhymes from the barrel leaving your mic sterile
4. Jurassic 5 - Work it out feat. Dave Matthews Band
Jurassic 5 was one of my favorite groups a couple of years back. Theres nothing particularly great about their word play but the message is great and they have some of the smoothest flows youll hear.
5. People Under the Stairs - Montego Slay
My favorite underground group of all time. Thes One and Double K are just an insane hip-hop duo. Theres not much else to say except this track puts a fat ass smile on my face
two cats making fat it's like that
with a rap similar to a pi-ti-pat of a cat
walking the roof to make it back to the truth
